Cheers to 105 Years
July 31, 2026
It’s not everyday that we have the privilege of celebrating a participant’s 105th birthday! This June, Trinity Health PACE of Pensacola participant Katherine Donofrio, known as Mrs. Kay, welcomed 105 in style.
Complete with a sash and crown for the birthday girl, a slot machine themed cake and a memorable singing tribute from a colleague, Mrs. Kay enjoyed her party at the center. Her son and nephew came from Oregon to join the festivities, along with a family friend.

Local media featured Mrs. Kay’s exciting day and visited the center to talk with her. You can watch the news coverage here.
Our Pensacola recreation therapist Linda sat down with Mrs. Kay to answer a few questions about this milestone.
Q&A with Mrs. Kay
Q: You are known for playing cards and gambling; can you tell me more about how you became interested in that and any other hobbies you enjoy?
As youngsters we played cards. We lived on a farm so there wasn’t much else to do. Me and a special friend played cards almost every day. My other hobbies included walking, swimming and traveling.
I’ve been to almost every state in the United States. I’ve been to Europe, China, Italy and Spain. I especially enjoyed China (30 to 40 years ago). Italy was special because I have cousins there.
Q: How long have you been a part of the TH PACE of Pensacola and what is your favorite part about the program?
I’ve been a part of the program since March 5, 2025. I like the activities with Linda and the personal care assistants like hitting the ball/balloon with the noodles, the big parachute, and playing cards.
Q: Do you have any words of wisdom or advice for people who want to live a long, healthy life like you?
I’ve always watched my diet- little sugar and salt. I don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol and do a lot of swimming, walking and stay active…Just lead a good life.
My son jokes that when people ask about my longevity that I should just tell them, “Don’t die!”

Celebrating a Remarkable Milestone
The Pensacola colleagues loved joining the festivities and celebrating Mrs. Kay’s remarkable journey. This extraordinary occasion reflects a life rich in experiences and the importance of helping seniors age in place.
The Florida PACE team is honored to continue her care and help improve her quality of life.
Our PACE teams build connections with each participant and care for the whole person, in mind, body, and spirit.
